In collaboration with the Institut Européen de Chant Choral (INECC) Luxembourg and the Union Saint Pie X, the Chorale Steebrécken-Biergem is planning a concert program for mixed choir and organ by composer Jean-Pierre Kemmer to mark his 100th birthday, focusing on the unfinished work "Missa in honorem Sancti Joseph", which has never been performed.

Under the direction of choirmaster Adriana Mitu, 80 singers will take part in two or three concerts (two of which are already confirmed), bringing together several choirs and individual choristers.

The choir will be accompanied on the organ by Jos Majerus, organist of the Echternach basilica.

Kemmer Jean-Pierre (1923-1991)

Jean-Pierre Kemmer (December 8, 1923 - December 21, 1991) is one of Luxembourg's most important contemporary composers. He was also a conductor, percussionist, pianist, choirmaster and member of the RTL orchestra. He composed choral works, masses and concertos, symphonies, as well as operetta and film music. In 1969, he founded the Jean-Pierre Kemmer choirs. In 2012, Merseburger Editions published 'La Sainte Passion selon St. Jean' (EM 2138), which was performed on 3.2.2012 in Luxembourg.
